Evil God

by

Evil God is Clicker/Strategy game with a unique grow mechanic based on units combos and interaction.

HTML5 - No download, sry Construct 3 creates really big files I can't upload here. Please express honestly about the game, I'm here to listen to what's wrong. :)

You are a god resurrected craving to gain is religion might back: Zhan.

Click over the spells (images at the right) to complete them. Your followers produce faith and you also have faith per click, the more faith you have the faster the spells will be completed. When a spell is completed, you will get a reward in MIGHT which is the "money" of the game, this is the main resource.

Acquire more followers with your might and combine them to pray for you with more FAITH.

Not enough faith? no problem, kill your follower with a ligthning and replace him with a more devouted follower acquired at the store.

You can upgrade your units and temples to keep leveling up. Your GOD level is determined by how much faith you and your followers have.

Don't get overwelmed by all the things going on, is a clicker so just click and purchase more units, you get it.

Awards/Achievement system (basic), statistics, autosave every 60 seconds (locally).

You can play Evil God in any of the following official links, any other website may have an unauthorized and out of date copy of the game.
Official Developer's Site (No registration or anything needed, just play): http://www.imcsw.com

The latest version has units for Spell level 0 and 1, content is being created every week and several major UI, progression and balancing improvements were implemented. Over 30 releases had been published since the game was very raw at the beggining and wasn't supposed to be a final game, just a practice.

Although everyone likes compliments, I'm here looking for an honest feedback: what you like, what you dislike, what keeps you playing it or not, what things are lacking considering your other game experiences. I'm improving it constantly.

I appreciate every comment.

I will develop:

  • Prestige mechanic
  • Online saving
  • Offline progress
  • Social interaction in leaderboards.
  • More units.
  • More spells.
Is a work in progress.

Mechanics Story/Writing/Dialogue
Let me start by something I write this as someone with minimal experience in the Clicker genre. The initial tutorial was a little overwhelming at first but I understood what a Clicker is shortly after. The UI is concise and the ability to get quick tips on what things were was appreciated. The pixels graphics worked and I felt they all had a cohesive feel, from the environments to the units. The song also wasn't too monotonous which is something I'd imagine would be necessary for Clickers! I played for about 45 minutes and definitely had a desire to keep clicking and upgrading so that I could unlock more content. Also watching for powerups added for a little extra fun.

Here are some things that I might improve on:
-There were a few minor spelling errors
-I wish the relation between Faith and Religion was better explained. I liked that you could review the tutorial, but I still didn't see how Religion worked
-Sometimes my Faith would be higher than the objective requirement and I wouldn't level up. I don't think this was during bonus Faith time but I could be mistaken
-I wish there was an easier way to get info about units and buildings. Having to left-click on the unit, then the info button, then close out the info pane... felt a little clunky. Maybe right-clicking to bring up info?

Overall, it was a fun little game and being able to play in a browser is convenient too!

Hi there! Actually the relation between Faith and Religion seems generally vague, I think it needs to be reinforced and there are two branches: Religion as your maximum capacity allowed for having followers and Religion as the main theme of the game. The last is the one that gives a feeling of having no relation with the rest of the mechanic.

On the tutorial, I definitely needs a polish. I think is time tome make something more serious about it to guide the player around, I think my major mistake was to take for granted everyone knows what a clicker is plus the game uses perhaps confusing concepts for describing things trying to give a context on the "religion" theme. Something more interactive may help I guess.
I'll check the thing about the faith... that's weird. There may be a bug I haven't found. And I'll take your advice on the info about units, didn't think on that before because I'm trying to keep it one click-working for mobiles but optimization has been quiet complicated.

Thanks a lot for the comments, are well appreciated.

Thanks for clearing some of that up. I wouldn't worry too much about people not being familiar with clicker games. I think most people would figure it out without too much hand holding. Also your info window description makes sense when working with mobile. I hadn't thought of that angle!

Mechanics Tutorial/Learning Curve
Hi TristanMX!

I picked up this game because because of the screenshot. It looked like a fun strategy game. Being a god and earning power by being worshipped is similar to Black & White, which is a game I like.

The first problem I noticed is the grammar. Obviously, if English is not your first language, there's little you can do about it yourself, but getting a native speaker to proofread it would be helpful. Also, the Ms in the font look like Ns.

My biggest complaint is that it was hard to figure out. I only played for 15 minutes before quitting because there was so much going on, and I don't think the tutorial covered it all. For example:
-The game said I couldn't recruit the first Fervent because I didn't have enough might even though I started with 600. That confused me and I didn't know what might was or where it was displayed.
-The temple screen on the right keeps cycling through different things and generating energy on its own, and a red bar keeps filling up, but I have no idea what it's doing or why.
-Faith per click is mentioned, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be clicking on.
-Clicking on the bar to show your objectives doesn't seem intuitive.

I'd also try to keep the art style more consistent. The characters and inside of temple are done with pixel art, but the main overhead view looks like it was done in MS Paint or something.

Keep it up, though. Tutorials are hard to make. The most important thing is to teach the main mechanics (clicking, hiring) and save all the other details (like stat bars) for when they're needed. You've also got a lot of tooltips, so keep that up. It's handy to be able to find out what something is just by clicking on it.
