Need help writing game story

I sort of need help writing the story of my fantasy game. The idea is that you are a knight seeking glory by defeating the monsters and their leader who keep attacking villages and towns. But someone else also wants that glory--an outcast mage. You have to get to and defeat the lead monster before they do... and maybe fight that mage. It is turn-based combat, and a text-based game. Anyone got ideas?
